We left at like 1:30 am on our way to California. We stopped at the boarder of Utah and Nevada and slept for a bit while I fed the baby. Daniel and Jessica ended up stopping there too and so we met up and drove part of the ways together. Sorry the pictures are so dark but here is Sadie leaving Utah for the first time!
It was a 12 hour drive to the ranger station and then another 10 miles or so to the starting area. Here is where we unloaded. Sadie had a good time hanging out with grandma Hoffman while we got ready.
Grabbing some last snacks and getting ready to go. We decided to hike in the night before everyone else so that it would be easier on Sadie and Me (but mostly me). Grandma Hoffman and Jessica stayed and hung out and did various things.
Kristin decided that she would come with us the night before. We drove down to the parking area and then got on our way.
The first day we hiked 5-6 miles to the campsite. The first mile was uphill and then the next mile was downhill. It pretty much evened out for the rest of the day. It was really beautiful—trees everywhere and beautiful clear weather. We left at about 6 and got there are 8:30. It was just getting pretty dark when we got there so we set up our tent really fast and then pumped some water.
Sadie got really used to sitting in this chair by herself if we had to get things done.
It was a good hike today. Unfortunately it rained for most of the night which was a little scary for Sadie. She did not sleep great.
I'm glad Kristin went with you and that you were able to meet up with the other hoffmans. That baby is so funny...and a good sport :)
