Christmas Eve

Matt got us all a present that he gave to us on Christmas Eve. We were lucky and got to have Meiling come over and spend it with us. Matt gave her yogurt pretzels and twinkies, me a Symphony bar (my favorite) and Sadie a box of gourmet chocolates. She (well, we all) were in heaven. It was awesome. Sadie even shared with us so that was nice.

I cooked all day and made a turkey, green bean casserole, potatoes, corn pudding, broccoli, rolls, and Matt cut up a watermelon. It was cool for me that everything turned out since I don’t have the best track record…

Matt put all this in a pot for soup the next day.

We skyped so that Matt could be a part of “We Three Kings” with Aaron and Seth. (That is tradition—every year the boys are the kings in the pageant and they sing all the verses very off tune. It is super cute though.)

Then we got to open our jammies from Mom Hoffman. Sadie loved the reindeer on her feet. And she loved the sheep on Meiling’s and mine.

Sadie loves Meiling and had a good time playing with her. Overall we had a good time. We read a story and lit the candle and enjoyed the night together.

Grandpa Catron and Temple Square

WE visited Grandpa Catron before Christmas. He was so happy to see us. He opened the  oven for us so it would be warmer in his apartment…That was one of the many hazards around for Sadie but she did well.
He likes to show us music and videos that are super old. Sadie really enjoyed the bell that he had lying around.

Grandpa told us that Grandma Shirley made the clothespin ornaments with her kids. It was sweet to hear him talking about that and wondering if my dad remembered. He did.

Matt is really good about having us visit him.

After visiting him we went to temple square. We hadn’t been to temple square yet and so we wanted to visit. The lights weren’t going to turn on until 5pm but I thought Sadie would enjoy it during the day as well.
Here are just a few pictures. Matt is sooo good with Sadie and they truly are best friends!
Temple Square
I love this one of them hugging.

It was beautiful and snowing and I loved it. It was really cold too though so we didn’t spend a ton of time there. I am glad the church does it though and I love the focus on the Savior. Such a good reminder of the reason for the season and who truly made it possible for us to know true joy.

Babies

Remember how I said she loves to carry her dolls around all day?
